Dean Dewitt Lewis was a prominent surgeon at Johns Hopkins, serving as Professor of Surgery from 1925-1939 and also served as president of the American Medical Association from 1933-1934. He made significant contributions to surgical literature and played a role in fostering the beginnings of alumni associations at Johns Hopkins.
