An interesting excerpt, "But when it is known that in many instances a man and wife and infant sleep habitually in rooms which do not net a thousand cubic feet of space, it is no marvel that multitudes prematurely perish in cities; nor is it wonderful that infant children wilt away life flowers without water, and that five thousand of them die in the city of New-York alone, during the hundred days which include the middle of July of any year." 214 p.(Later editions have the title  "Sleep : or the Hygiene of the night")
