The pandemic prompted the passage of the landmark Public Health Act and the Nuisances Removal Act in 1848 in England.Usher Parsons served as surgeon’s mate during the War of 1812, joining Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s expedition on Lake Erie and the later battle.
