The New South (Typed Letter, Signed by Stevenson)
Adlai Stevenson II
Adlai Stevenson II, 1952
Original typed letter on "the New South", from a speech in Richmond, VA, Mosque Auditorium, September 20, 1952. Mounted. Stevenson was the Democratic candidate for President during the 1952 and 1956 Presidential elections (against Dwight D. Eisenhower). "The South is a good place to take our bearings, because in no part of the country does the past - a past of great nobility and great tragedy - more sharply etch the present than in the South. It is a good place to think of the grim problems of war and peace which weigh so heavily on all of us today." - Adlai Stevenson.
