Pagination: Vol. 1: pt. 1: viii, 439, 143 p., 1 map ; pt. 2: iv, 543, 120 p., 2 maps. Water damage, cover wear to V.1, part 1, with the front board nearly detached. The text is generally in good condition though.
Interesting provenance: From the estate of Colonel Truman Smith (1893-1970). Smith was personal advisor to General George C. Marshall. Yale class of 1915. Awarded the Silver Star and Distinguished Service Medal. The volume was owned by his father, Capt Edmund Dickinson Smith. E.D. Smith (1857-1900), was killed in the Spanish American War in Sogod Island, Cebu Philipines. Smith was the son of Senator Truman Smith of CT. Signed, "E.D. Smith 19' Inf." West Point, class of 1879.
