Folio, 33 cm. Contemporary boards recased, with brown buckram spine.  Strong binding. Internally excellent, pages are clean and white.  [12], 384, [48], 42, [4] p.  [2] folding portraits of Segni and Capponi, engraved by Johann Heinrich Storcklein. Interesting censorship: "The excessive excess of Pier Luigi Farnese against the Bishop of Fano" on p. 340, replaced by a series of dots (see Leg No. 912).  The history of Florence from 1527 to 1555.  The author, Segni, belonged to a Florentine merchant family. He entered the service of the Medici in 1535 and was Cosimo I's ambassador to Ferdinand I of Habsburg as well as other public positions.  Gamba 912. Brunet, V, p. 260-261.  Graesse IV p. 341.
