Edward Young.
London : Printed by J.H. [i.e. John Heptinstall] for Walter Kettilby, 1706
[Early Maryland Ownership of the Addison Family] Rebound in later 3/4 leather over marbled boards. Lacking the title page, first page present is the index. Scattered spotting, staining. 40 p. + 30,[4] p. ESTC T105177. Vol. 2 bears the imprint: London, printed by Tho. Hodgkin, for Walter Kettibly, 1706, and includes 'The excellency of reason' with a separate titlepage and pagination. Interesting provenance: presumably from the library of the Rev. W. D. Addison (Walter Dulany Addison, 1769-1848, Ann Arundel Co, Maryland, an Episcopalian minister). He didn't sign this copy (or if he did his signature is gone, because the title page is missing, but we had a number of volumes from his library which he gave to his cousin Rev. Kepler and this appears to be one of them). Signed by the Rev. H. L. Keppler (Henry L. Kepler, 1807-1880, cousin of Addison, also an Episcopalian minister, who settled in Virginia and officiated sermons at St. Peters in New Kent to Gen. Robert E. Lee.). Kepler's son Henry gave Addison's library to Addison's grandson, Walter, who resided in Baltimore. The final signature is of Sarah R. Addison, 1928 (1878-1959).
