A translation of: Protestatio serenissimi & celsissimi principis Caroli Ludovici. "Given at Hampton-court, the 27. of January, anno 1637"--Colophon. Signature on renewed end pages of Leonard Forster, Oxford, 1938. Forster was a noted German scholar and Schroder Professor of German at Cambridge. During the war he served in the British Naval Reserve as a code breaker with the enigma machine.
