Armorial bookplate of Francis Pierrepont Barnard, Pembroke, Oxford. "Beare and forebeare." Barnard was an archaeologist, historian and numismatist. M.A., D. LITT. OXON Hon. Fellow of Pembroke College, Hon. Curator of the Coins and Medals of the University of Oxford. ESTC R203811. Wing T3232. Sir Tuke was a colonel in the Royalist army during the English Civil War. After the Restoration he was a Royal favorite and successful playwright.
