Housed in publisher's full leather portfolio case. Rear cover has some wear, as do leather ties. Complete in two parts, text volume and 50 color plates. Text volume bound in leather and black satin, with red and white design. Plates are loose, as issued, in separate portfolio. The text is printed on Madagascar Lafuma paper and plates on Lafuma wove paper. Iacovleff was chosen as the official artist by Andre Citroen to illustrate the Africans encountered during the expedition of the Croisiere Noire expedition. The expedition was led by Georges Marie Haardt and Louis Audouin-Dubreuil and crossed the Sahara, Niger, Chad and Congo by car to get to Madagascar. Carteret Illustres IV, p. 213.
