Thick quarto, 39.5 x 29 cm.  Limited edition, no. 20 of only 500 copies.  Signed by Bakst, printed signature of Brunoff.  Original wrappers.  Includes a frontispiece portrait of Bakst by Picasso.  Complete, with 54 plates after Bakst's designs.  Printed tissue guards. Some disintegration to bottom of glassine wrapper.  Held in custom-made modern leather chemise case.  

Tchaikovsky's ballet, based on the Brothers Grimm version of Charles Perrault's tale of the Sleeping Beauty, was premiered in Moscow in 1891; the 1921 production in London had choreography by Serge Diaghilev and costume and set designs by Bakst, and it was this production that gained Tchaikovsky's ballet its enduring popularity.
