Early work on the moral theology of marriage and detailed descriptions of married life for excitement.·Notorious work, whose minuteness in describing marital difficulties and irregularities raised a storm of protest from the outraged clergy and caused its temporary suppression. This edition contains suppressed article "Sanchez, Thom. Disputationum de Sacramento Matrimonii tom. III. Ed. Venetiae, sive alarium , a quibus 1.8 disp. 7 detractus est integer num. 4. Decr. 4 Febr. 1627" (this sheet was bound in later). This was placed on the Index of Prohibited Books, the grounds being not the doctrine of the author, but the perversion of the work and the suppression of what the author taught. Omitted from the 1614 edition, but present in this copy. This article treats of the power of the pope to grant a valid legitimation of the offspring of marriages invalid only through canon law through the so-called sanatio in radice. The author's mode of expression shows a not always pleasing verbosity.
