Bound in contemporary limp parchment. 2 preliminary leaves, 210 pages including illustrations, plates 11 plates (10 double; including plans, diagrams). Lacking rear blank. Title page with large woodcut vignette. Illustrated with text diagrams and large woodcuts throughout. Engraved portrait of Cosmos Grossherzog von Florents (Cosimo II. De' Medici) on verso. Pages are generally clean, with the exception of a persistent stain along the bottom edge. "Diuiso in libri otto. Oue difusamenta si dimostra quali debbano essere i siti delle fortezze, le forme, i recinti, fossi, baloardi, castelli." Theti's discourse in military engineering was first printed in 1569, with additions in 1589. This edition contains all eight books and is heavily illustrated. Tetti was employed by Holy Roman Emperors, Maximilian II and Rudolf II. The Hungarian fortifications at Ersekujvar, Nagykanizsa and Komarom were designed by him. Additionally, he served as a tutor to the Saxon Prince Elector Christian I. He was also employed by the Medici of Florence and the Dukes of Savoy. Refs: Riccardi, II, 517. Graesse, VII, p. 105.
