The author Osa Jonhson (1894-1953) was an American explorer, filmmaker, and writer who, with her husband, made a highly popular series of films featuring mostly African an South Sea tribal groups and wildlife in this book; Bride in the Solomons is a study of the indigenous people and social customs of the Solomon Islands, with special emphasis on cannibalism.
