Covering Sept. 1816- July 1844. Very good bindings and covers. Red morocco spine labels. Vol. 13 bound in cloth. Scattered foxing and damp staining to all volumes. Some text affected. Gov. Dale has written notes on the rear paste downs. Some of his notes reference passage, most have the date he bought the volume, where he purchased them, and how much the rebinding cost. Useful indexes of cases brought before the court. Vol. 1 notably has Daniel Webster's Dartmouth College v. Woodward case.
Provenance: Signature of C.M. Dale on most volumes. Charles Milby Dale (1893 - 1978) was a lawyer and Republican politician from Portsmouth. Dale was the sixty-sixth Governor of New Hampshire, serving from 1945 to 1949. During the period he bought these books he served in the State Senate and on the Executive Council of New Hampshire.
