Images from the John Frederick Huckel Collections.  Explanations of the rites and legends associated with the Bead Chant and several aspects of the Shooting Chant, and an overview of Navajo religion.  The author, Gladys Amanda Reichard was a cultural anthropologist and student of Franz Boas at Columbia. Reichard spent years on the Miguelto / Red Point Navajo reservation living with with the people, learning the language, weaving and about Navajo religion.
