Du Bos served as a French diplomat, philosopher and polymath.  He negotiated the peace treaty between France and the Netherlands in 1701.  First Mexican edition of Dubos' 1703 work on the Anglo-Spanish war, "Les Interets de l'Angleterre mal entendus dans la guerre presente." In this work Dubos advised England to stay out of the war of Spanish succession and focus on its navy, commerce, and colonies.  Dubos was famous for prophesying that the British colonies in America would one day revolt against their master and gain their independence.
