[English Satirical Journal associated with the Reform movement] 28 cm. 2 volumes, 107 issues,  228 + 208 pages plus title and Preface.  Bound in early 3/4 calf over marbled boards. Wear to cover (rubbing, shelfwear), spine lettering perished.  Internal binding sound.  General title, printed in double-column, wood-engraved illustrations by Robert Seymour.   

This weekly magazine was based on the French Figaro, and was the forerunner of Punch. It was started by Beckett.  Figaro was a satirical journal containing political squibs and caricatures. It includes theater news, political poetry, anecdotes, and comments on anti-reformation, parliament and the British army.  This volume includes articles on the spread of Cholera.
