The author's statement explains that the image was the result of a number of sketches executed over several trips to visit Milosz at Dartmouth College. "At the end I put the drawings on top of each other and pulled a composite picture of the poet from the soup." These poems by Czeslaw Milosz 1911-2004 , the Polish-American poet and winner of the Nobel Prize, were written in Warsaw in 1943 and are considered his best. Half title signed by the author. Artist's statement signed by Jim Dine. Includes the original drypoint etching by Dine.  Introduction by Helen Vendler.
