[First edition of Grandjean's influential Tuscan architectural publication] Folio, 43.5 x 29 cm (16 3/4 x 11 in).  Bound in contemporary 1/4 morocco over red boards.  Gilt decorated spine.  Minor rubbing, shelf wear to cover.  Binding sound.  Complete, with 109 illustrated plates (cix). Engraved title. VII, 50 p. Generally clean, a few spots, but an attractive copy. Contains architecture of Florence, Sienna, Arezzo, Livorno, Pisa, etc. Also a chronological table of the Italian architects Giotto, Alberti, Michelangelo, Brunelleschi, Scamozzi, Vasari, etc.  

Interesting French architectural provenance: Small stamp of "E. Sanson, architecte."  Ernest-Paul Sanson (Paris, 1836-1918) was a notable French architect of the Beaux-Arts style.  He was employed in the construction of many of the grand hotels particuliers of Paris and estate chateaux.
