Volume 1 has some loss to spine cloth. All volumes have poor bindings along the gutters (but are held in place by the plastic covers). Clean, unmarked pages. Early bookplate and signature of Samuel Batchelder, 1867. Batchelder (1784-1879) was an American inventor and author. He served as a superintendent of the Hamilton Company's mills in Lowell, Mass. He later patented a number of advances for yarn manufacture and early industrial machines. He served as a representative in the Massachusetts State Legislature.
