[Atlas volume of the official account of the landmark 18th-century circumnavigation] 4to. 31 x 24.3 cm. (12 x 9 3/4 inches). Rare issue with the plates bound separately, at a contemporary date. Map of the track of the Centurion and 42 plates. "Chart, shewing the Track of the Centurion round the World," normally found in the text volume, but printed separately for this atlas. Plate 16 has light discoloration. "A masterpiece of descriptive travel. Anson's voyage appears to have been the most popular book of maritime adventure of the eighteenth century" - Hill 1817.
