A rare broadside on the devices and mottoes used by Royalists during the Civil War; with an engraving by Bowen showing 48 flags with devices in eight rows, each with inscribed number, Latin motto and underneath with the name of the owner; with engraved title, inscriptions, and legend with translations of the mottoes. Dimensions: 352 x 264 mm. Two of the banners are colored. Generally clean, with some minor darkening to two of the banners in the center. Ref: British Museum number 1871,0610.799. Previously owned by the Lords of the Barrett family.
