Pages generally clean, a few text pages have some foxing.  Franklin Institute book plate.  Gift inscription on front paste downs to the Institute from George M. Conarroe, 1854. (Conarroe was a prominent Philadelphia Lawyer and member of the the Biddle family.)  Refs: Palau 122872; ESTC T93451.  

James served as a Lt. Colonel in the British forces.  He was stationed in Gibraltar between 1749-1755.  Much of this work concerns military matters concerning the enclave.
