Some of the original wrappers bound in.  Includes essays on travel from Turin (the Pellegrinazioni autunnali to St. Petersburg, Moscow, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Dresden, Munich, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Budapest, Vienna, Switzerland, Malta, Athens, Smyrna, Gallipoli, Constantinople (significantly to newly independent Greece and to Ottoman Turkey), Northern Italy, etc).  Also includes scientific observations on Halley's comet, the Telegraph, Gas Lighting, etc.  Baruffi was a professor of mathematics and philosophy at the University of Turin.   He directed the installation of the first public gas lighting in Turin.  Baruffi was one of the preeminent proponents of scientific culture in the age of the Risorgimento.
