Frontispieces (portraits) plates, maps ; 24 cm. Early gift inscription to Mrs. Col. Chew (Louise Fontaine Washington Chew), of Blakely (now Blakeley, Charlestown WV) from Richard B. Washington (which his initials on the title). Colonel R. Preston Chew (Louise's husband) was a noted horse artillery commander in the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, under Stonewall Jackson.
