Scarce Atlas volume only.  Folio, 44 cm.  30 color maps (8 double-page).  Bound in contemporary pebbled cloth.  Cover wear.  Manuscript paper label on front cover. Original blue wraps bound in. Early neat notations in a fine hand (Reeve's?) indicate the battles fought in the margins.  The author, Prince Philippe served as a diplomatic aide de camp to General George McClellan from September 1861 to July 1862.  He served with distinguish during the Peninsular Campaign with the Army of the Potomac.  D'Orleans was the pretender to for French throne, and grandson of the last king of France. <br> Provenance: Book plate of Felix Alexander Reeve, a Union Colonel (8th Tennessee Volunteer Infantry Regiment) during the civil war and later Solicitor of the U.S. Treasury.  See Officers of the Volunteer Army and Navy who served in the Civil War, published by L.R.
