3 volume set. Volumes 1-3 (Does not include the later published supplemental volume) Folios, 50 x 39 cm.  Limited edition of 430.  1911-1912. Rebound in modern leather with gilt tooling. Mounted monochrome and color plates. 257 plates, 20 color.  Library stamp on title and indices of each volume.  The exhibit in Munich was significant as one of the first European exhibits of Islamic work.  Sarre "was one of the exhibition's organizers, and in letting the art stand on its own merits, he moved away from the idea of presenting Islamic Art as an element used to evoke Western fantasies of "the Orient."" - Christies, Sale 1851, 19 June 2007, Lot 204.   The first volume covers Islamic manuscripts, book decorations, and carpets. The second volume is dedicated to ceramics and metalwork, glass and crystal, while the third volume describes draperies, weaponry, woodwork, and ivory.  With contributions by Max van Berchem, Camillo List, Ernst Kuhnel, Ernst Bassermann-Jordan, Ernst Diez, Moriz Dreger, S.
