Lipsiae : Brandenburger, 1711

[Longevity] Dissertation in Latin.  Quarto. 48 pp. Some darkening to title wrap.  Bound in modern cloth. "Christian Gottfried Hoffmann (1692-1735) jurisconsul and professor of law at Frankfurt, wrote this thesis in his first semester at Leipzig.  It lists and discusses the learned men of the last three centuries (15-17th) who lived to ages above 70 years and why scholars have long lives.  The gentleman listed as living the longest is John Machlin, an English theologian who died in 1660 at the age of 114.  (It was reported in Joecher II, 14 on credible authority, that in his latter years he grew a new set of hair and teeth)." BM XII, 391.
