[Early Montgomery County Maryland Bible (Rose Hill, (Colesville, Silver Spring) - with Extensive Genealogical Records of the Canby and related Families with records from 1748 - 1973)] Quarto, 30 cm.   "Family record." between the Apocrypha and New Testament has added pages and many hand written entries. Most of the early entries are from Thomas Canby and Deborah W. Canby (b. circa 1802 - d. 1864).  Includes entries for Virginia (b. 1831), Laura M. and William Mauduit (1834), Benjamin D. (1838), Eliza A. (1840), Mary B. (1842), and Martha H. (1845).  Also includes entries for the Jackson, Wilson, Gilpin, Duvall, Berry families.  On August 31, 1864, the Baltimore Sun reported that "William Canby, a citizen of Montgomery county, Md., tried by court-martial, and found guilty of secreting officers and soldiers of the rebel army within our lines, has been found guilty, and sentenced to be imprisoned in Fort Delaware during the war."  Latest entries include the death of G. Rust Canby Sr. in 1970 and Eliza M. Cannon in 1973 and the birth of Thomas Dawson Canby in 1952.  

Binding poor, Spine worn. Lacking Old Testament title page and some of the prelims.  Leather worn.  Some creasing, scattered staining. !  Sold with all faults. !
