Wooton's translation of Nouvelle bibliotheque des auteurs ecclesiastiques. 3rd ed, revised and corrected. Du Pin's ecclesiastical history (1686-1714) was remarkable in that it was one of the first attempts to deal with church history in modern language and from a strong Gallicanist prospective. Du Pin attempted to cover early church biography, literary criticism, and the history of church dogma. Du Pin corresponded with William Wake, the English Archbishop about the possible unity of the English and French churches. He also worked on a plan to unify the Roman and Greek churches while in residence at Czar Peter I's French estate. It would be interesting to consider what effect Du Pin's synthesis of early Christian teachings had on his yearning for a united Christendom. The influence of Du Pin's work was not limited to a French audience, and was an important work for the Anglican Church. See Di Mauro's 2012 dissertation, Gallican Vision, Anglican Perspectives: The Reception of the Works of Louis Ellies Du Pin into England. A number of editions appeared in English, as Du Pin's work was corrected due to heavy clerical criticism, the 1st English ed. appeared in 1693.  This is an oversized or heavy book, that requires additional postage for international delivery outside the US.
