The Big Little Books, were first created in 1932 by Sam Lowe for Whitman Publishing Co. The name, though seemly paradoxical, promised "the buyer a great amount of reading material and pleasure (BIG) within a small and compact (LITTLE) book." - Lower, Larry. Lowery's The Collector's Guide to Big Little Books and Similar Books. Educational Research and Applications Corporation, 1981, p. 2. They were typically 3 5/8" wide and 4 1/2" high and featured a dramatic color cover. They featured an illustration on one page opposite a page of text. During the "Golden Age" of Big Little Books (1932-1938) these books were a staple for many American children. Our collection includes numerous adventure stories, radio dramas, pirates!, westerns, Little Orphan Annie, and more! Fabulous pulp art covers. Sold with all faults, not subject to return. See our photos and ask questions! Please request a full list of contents: 1. Little Orphan Annie (1928); 2. Wash Tubbs in Pandemonia (1932); 3.
