First edition. Bound in full, contemporary tree calf.  Gilt stamped.  Head and tail of spine chipped. Spine label chipped. Hinges have splitting.  Marbled end sheets. 4to. vii, [9], 360 pp, including errata leaf and subscribers list. Illustrated with engraved folding frontispiece map, three folding maps, and six folding plates.  Armorial bookplate of George Morris Taswell, motto: "Garde Bien."  Taswell was a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Madras Fencibles, who died in 1814 in Tours.  ESTC T134651.  Drinkwater's first-hand account of the siege of Gibraltar, a military classic which proved so popular that it went through four editions in as many years.
