3 volume set.  Bound in publisher's green cloth, with gilt lettering. Good bindings and covers. Book plate.  viii, 667, viii, 743, xvi, 823 pp, index, many color folding maps. There is a persistent (but minor, doesn't touch text) dampstain at the bottom corner edge of vol. 3.  Some pencil markings. Small tear at head of spine of v.3.

Hall.  Maps by Isoh Yamagata.  First published in 1903, Murdoch's work quickly became an important reference in Japanese history.
